Welcome!

We call and hang up, fax and shred, email and delete. How will history record us 200 years from now when all our documentations of communication no longer exist?

This question was the inspiration for Professor of Visual Arts Denise Drum Baker's transalantic global art project, Crossing The Atlantic. This conceptual art project was created to show letter writing as a lost art form. Denise Baker from North Carolina traded jobs, homes and cars with Jasper McKinney, art faculty of the Newry Institute in Newry, Northern Ireland.

During this exchange, Jasper and Denise asked family, colleagues, and friends to send postcards to their new addresses. Over 1375 postcards crossed the Atlantic between the two countries, two colleges, and two communities!
